Parents’ Association

Our Aim:

The primary aim of Moorfield School Parents’ Association is to provide a friendly forum for parents and children to enjoy one another’s company in a relaxed and informal way.

Our chairperson is Mrs Anna Fearon who has Xander in Form 2. The secretary is Helen Hesketh who has Iris in Senior 5 and Harriet in Form 3. The treasurer is Rick Dickerson who has Ushi in Form 2. In addition to these positions, we have form representatives who act as a point of contact for parents – in person but also via a WhatsApp group.

The PA team is responsible for organising many events over the school year including bun sales, discos and film nights for the pupils and coffee mornings and quiz nights for the parents. Over the past few years, money raised has been used to purchase a kiln, climbing net, playground toys and the redecoration of the sports hall. We are always open to new ideas for events so please get in touch!

Form Representatives:

Our form representatives are a point of contact for parents in the year group for anything PA related! For example, they will let you know the dates of events via your WhatsApp group, perhaps ask for volunteers to run the stall for your form bun sale or look to gauge interest in a proposed event. Your feedback is also welcome via your form representative. Representatives are listed below:

Nursery:               Euan Pearson and Caren Cloete

Reception:           Charlotte Ibbitson

Form 1:                 Melissa Forbes-Murison

Form 2:                 Rick Dickerson

Form 3:                 Helen Hesketh

Form 4:                 Elizabeth Lindley

Senior 5:               Helen Hesketh

Senior 6:               Emma Dowson

Whilst we have form representatives for each form, we also recognise that there are some parents who would like to help on an ad hoc basis – for example, volunteering at specific events. If this is something that you would like to do, please contact your form representative and we will add you to our volunteer list.

Meetings:

The committee meet once every half term on a Friday morning. The meetings are open to any parent or guardian who wishes to attend. If you would like to attend, please ask your form representative when the next meeting is.

A  general meeting is also held every year to elect all the committee positions, approve the PA accounts and carry out any other necessary business. The AGM this year will be held around Easter (details will be put on Facebook). The meeting is open to all parents and guardians.

If anyone would like to contest any of these positions they should contact the PA secretary, Helen Hesketh at moorfieldpaadmin@outlook.com who will discuss the process with you. Please note that committee meetings are held once every half term (on a Friday morning) with additional meetings at busy times.  Each committee member is required to share the responsibilities of planning, preparing and running events so please consider if you have sufficient time to devote to this.

Secondhand Uniform:

The PA team run the secondhand uniform shop where items of uniform in good condition can be purchased very reasonably. If you would like any items for your child, please contact your form representative or email moorfieldschooluniform@outlook.com. We also run secondhand uniform sales throughout the academic year where you can have a good rummage!

If your child has outgrown items of uniform and they are clean and in good condition, we would be very grateful for them. All money raised from sales is put towards our fundraising targets.
