What a thrill for the Moorfield choir this morning to be awarded the coveted best choir trophy again.

There were eight schools participating this year:  Wakefield Girls’ Junior Choir, QUEGS Boys’ Choir, Giggleswick, Moorlands, St Walburga’s, Fluneck, St Winifred’s and Moorfield.  The Kings Hall was full to bursting with standing room only for many parents and friends who had come to watch.  The standard was very high this year with all schools performing the set piece I am a Small Part of the World.  Each school also performed their own choice for the second piece.  Moorfield chose an Israeli song called Dodi Li, which they sang in Hebrew from the Old Testament book, Song of Solomon.

The adjudicator commented that they sang with ‘superb attack with a most incisive sense of rhythim and pulse, the atmosphere aptly captured with meaningful and carefully projected diction.’  She wrote that the choir ‘had a lovely blend of tone focused through a wide dynamic range, excellent intonation;  musical and expressive accounts, impressive chording and part singing.’

We achieved an OUTSTANDING grade (90+)  – an exceptional choir performance, both technically and artistically.  We have longed for this grade over the years and today was our FIRST TIME – it is very rarely awarded.

We are very proud of our all our pupils in the Upper School and our wonderful Mr Bradnum!
