Physical Education

We believe in the old adage: healthy body, healthy mind. Developing and enjoying the exercise habit at an early age is achieved through timetabled lessons and extra-curricular activities, all designed to meet the needs of pupils of all interests and abilities, introducing them to a wide range of activities.

Weekly lessons include rugby, netball, hockey, golf, football, dance, gymnastics, cricket, rounders, tennis and athletics, with lessons taught by specialist games teachers and sports coaches. All pupils attend regular swimming lessons and a purpose built, multi-use games pitch to extend our on-site sports provision.

Cross-country running on the moor (Baht ‘at of course!) supports pupils from all ages participating in the Wharfedale and North Bradford leagues with great success. We compete against other schools and internally to develop a competitive spirit, to learn to win and lose graciously and understand the importance of team work.

Extra-curricular opportunities in PE include tag rugby, football, squad coaching sessions, gymnastics, cricket, athletics, gym, running club and morning circuits. We aim to foster enjoyment of as many activities as possible to instil lifelong interest in sport, fitness and health.
