School Council is where great ideas get a chance to shine!

School Houses

Every child, from Reception to Form 6, belongs to one of our four houses: Robins (Red), Blackbirds (Yellow), Blue Tits (Blue) and Thrushes (Green). Siblings join the same house, helping to create a strong sense of belonging across the school.

Each house is led by a Form 6 House Prefect and supported by a member of staff. Together, they encourage teamwork, celebrate achievements and help every child feel part of their own house community within the wider Moorfield family.

Throughout the year, pupils enjoy a variety of friendly house competitions, including sports, swimming, music and other creative events. Highlights include the House Swimming Gala and Sports Day where children of all ages have the opportunity to participate, represent their house and work together as a team. Families are warmly invited to attend these events, cheering on pupils and helping to create a wonderful community atmosphere.

House Music is another a much-loved tradition, bringing each House together to perform and compete across a range of musical categories. In some years, other creative events, such as Moorfield’s Got Talent, spelling bees and poetry recitals, take centre stage, celebrating pupils’ talents in different ways.

Children can earn points for their house through positive attitudes, effort, achievement and participation, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, in the pool or on the stage. Every contribution counts and at the end of each term, House Points and Silver Stars are totalled with the House Points Cup proudly awarded to the winning House.

School Council

School Council is where great ideas get a chance to shine!  Representatives from each class meet every half term with the Head to discuss ways to make Moorfield even better.  Whether it’s suggesting exciting new initiatives, improving everyday school life or making sure everyone’s voice is heard everyone, there is always plenty to say. There is opportunity to work together, spark change and prove that even the smallest idea can make a difference.

Older pupils sometimes chair the meetings and type up the minutes to keep a record of exactly what has been decided. It’s a great way for them to get involved at every level!

Over the past year,  our School Council has brought about change to playtimes, school lunches, sports kit, environmental awareness and gracious living for those who sit on the table of the week at lunch times.

“Without question, the best investment I have ever made was sending Oliver to Moorfield.”
