Learning Support
at Moorfield School
Every child learns differently.
Some need a little more time, a different approach or tailored support to help them make sense of a subject. At Moorfield, that process always starts with truly knowing the child.
About Moorfield School

Because our class sizes are small, teachers quickly notice when something isn’t quite clicking—and, just as importantly, they catch the small breakthroughs that build confidence. We work closely with families from the start, sharing observations, listening to concerns, and building a clear picture of how your child learns best.
Working Together
Supporting a child is always a partnership between school and home. Parents know their child better than anyone, and we believe open, honest communication is essential.
When additional support is needed, our teachers work alongside our Learning Support Coordinator to agree the most appropriate next steps. For some children, small adjustments in the classroom are all that’s needed. Others benefit from a more personalised programme of support.
Where appropriate, a Learning Support Action Plan (LSAP) is developed with parents, setting realistic targets and practical strategies that are reviewed regularly as children grow and their needs change.
Tailored Support
Children receiving learning support follow an individual programme designed around their needs. Depending on the support required, this may include one-to-one sessions, small group teaching or carefully planned classroom strategies delivered by our experienced Learning Support team.
Our aim is always the same: to give children the tools, strategies and reassurance they need to become increasingly independent in their learning.
Early Identification
Because teachers know pupils so well, concerns are often identified at an early stage.
Where appropriate, we can carry out dyslexia screening within school and, if a more detailed assessment is recommended, we work closely with trusted specialists, including Dyslexia Alliance. Throughout the journey, families are kept fully informed and supported—ensuring every decision is made together and help arrives at just the right time.
