Learning through play and discovery

For our youngest pupils, learning begins with exploration. A question, an observation or a moment of fascination can become the start of a whole learning journey.

Whether they are creating, building, investigating, telling stories, experimenting or getting involved in everyday adventures, children are developing the foundations for communication, creativity, problem-solving and independence.

Our teachers take time to understand what inspires each child — using their interests as a starting point while gently opening up new experiences and possibilities.

The world beyond the classroom

At Moorfield, the outdoors is part of everyday life. Pupils are encouraged to explore, take appropriate risks and develop a connection with the natural world from their earliest years.

From our outdoor spaces and mud kitchen to walks around Ilkley, trips to the library, discovering seasonal changes and adventures on the Moor, our children learn through real experiences.
