Religious Education
We learn about Christianity. Through Bible stories, visits to local churches, and learning about the main Christian festivals, the girls become familiar with the Christian heritage of this country. Harvest, Easter and Christmas services take place at St John's Church. We also learn about Sikhism, Hinduism, Judaism and Islam. In exploring the beliefs and value systems within these religions, the girls learn to respect all faiths.
A Modern Parable
The Good Hoodies
Once a mum was walking out of Bettys when she tripped. The baby banged its head and the mum broke her arm. They couldn’t move. And to make it worse, it was raining.
An hour later the mayor walked past. He took one look at the mother and baby and hurried off. The mum was very shocked.
The time ticked past and sooner or later a lady millionaire came by and her designer handbag fell on the floor. When she picked it up, she saw the mum and Eeew! she thought as she strutted off in her Prada heels. Then a group of hoodies came along. The mum was scared and the baby started to cry. The hoodies had a discussion. A thunderstorm had broken out as well!
After a long chat, they walked towards the mum and baby and to the mum’s surprise they wrapped the baby in a hoodie and they rolled up the other one to act as a pillow for the mum. Not long after that she found herself in hospital. The hoodies had bought some flowers for the mum and teddies for the baby. “What good hoodies!” said the baby!
