Senior 5

Moorfield

Summer Term 2010

Geography/Science/ICT

In Science the girls will study life cycles, making 3D animal models and inventing a new flowering plant! The topic overlaps with the 'Create an Island' project in geography. Each girl will choose a global location for her new island. Its geographical features, biomes and wildlife will be researched. In an exciting and challenging survival game the girls will be shipwrecked on their island. Who will live to tell the tale?.... Both topics will include ICT. The girls will also design and assemble seed packets for their Sweet Pea seeds which they collected last year. The girls will also take part in an Eco-Day at Bradford Girls' Grammar School, entitled 'Plan-It-Earth'.

History

The girls will continue with their work on Tudor Explorers and then start a new topic on the ancient culture of the Aztecs

Maths

The girls will be continuing all aspects of number and shape, in preparation for the May Moorfield exam. The girls planning to sit the Skipton Girls' High entrance exam in September will have opportunity to complete practice papers. Towards the end of term, the girls will undertake an integrated maths project. It will be shop-based where the girls will investigate the true value of offers like 'Buy One Get One Free' and '3 for the price of 2' ... Are such offers really worth it?!

There’s also French, Music, Art, PE, RE … never a dull moment for Moorfield's Senior 5 girls.
